Our Time Our Story: 20 Years' New Taiwan Cinema

2002・台灣・114 minutes

In the early 1980s, Taiwanese films faced a massive invasion by Hong Kong films, and local military education films and Qiong Yao films could no longer attract audiences. Coupled with political impacts such as the severance of diplomatic relations between China and the United States and the Formosa incident, a group of young directors began to use their own stories as the axis of creation and lifted the martial law in the film world in advance. The works of the new film era are like documentaries that preserve Taiwan's golden years. However, such wonderful moments also disappeared after the "Taiwan Film Manifesto" was issued. Through rich film clips and interviews with filmmakers, this film leads the audience to review the origins and brilliance of Taiwan's new films.
