The Perks of Being Wild

2026・Hong Kong・52 minutes

This 51-minute film is set on Cheung Chau Island. Through the summer wanderings of three children and a stray dog, it gently explores the disappearance of "neighborhood" in Hong Kong's collective memory. Director Benson Koo lived in Cheung Chau during the epidemic and witnessed the empty houses left behind due to tourism or emigration, which inspired his creation. The film's shooting, production, distribution, promotion, and screening modes are all unconventional. More than 120 mobile screenings were held in various communities in Hong Kong, such as beach stores, building rooftops, coffee shops, tea restaurants, stationery shops, bookstores, and dessert shops, prompting the public to rethink the relationship between film and public space.
