On May 11 (Saturday), 1:00–2:00 PM, Giloo will screen two experimental video works at Taipei Platform.
The first is All the best, the debut video work by Candy Bird. Set against the backdrop of Taiwan under a new Cold War climate, the piece presents a fictional diary of an intelligence officer, reflecting on the artist’s interpretation of life under political pressure and reimagining the notion of human rights in the face of growing authoritarian threats from neighboring powers.
The second film features Denmanbo (Yang Teng-Chi) and his work Plastic Rites, a vibrant reflection on his Hakka identity in the mountainous town of Dongshi. Drawing from personal experiences of local festivals, landscapes, and customs, Denmanbo explores queerness and aesthetics through a colorful portrayal of the folkloric figure “A-bi-bai”, rendered through experimental video language.
Both artists will be present for a post-screening discussion, inviting the audience to engage with pressing social issues and explore creative inspiration together.
