In a Catholic statue factory in Manila, all employees, including the boss, are marginalized members of the LGBTQ community. They live in a primitive and polluted environment every day, producing Catholic statues for the Philippine and even international markets to maintain food and clothing. The irony is that they, who have never been recognized by the Catholic Church, have become "creators" here. They "create gods" during the day, but want to become "goddess" at night. Even though the church does not recognize their self-identified gender, they still go to church every Sunday and continue to devote themselves to the church. Director Pan Yugang used the interesting and colorful daily portraits of a group of workers in the film "Sisters with Broken Wings" to simultaneously explore sexual orientation and the oppression and exploitation of vulnerable groups by capitalism. The topic is profound and broad and reflects contemporary contradictions. The film successfully captures the seemingly happy-go-lucky but sentimental character of Filipinos and reveals the real reason for their obsession with religious relics. ★11/1 19:30 Labor Film Festival online exclusive premiere
