Adapted from Shuichi Yoshida's novel of the same name, this film is a representative work of Yoko Maki, exploring the complexities of love, hatred, and desire.
A child murder case occurs in the Katsuragawa Valley, and Satomi, a mother, is considered the prime suspect. As she struggles to clear her name, it is revealed that Satomi has been having an affair with her neighbor Shunsuke. The person who exposes this affair is none other than Shunsuke's wife, Kanako. Journalist Watanabe conducts an in-depth investigation and discovers that a case from many years ago seems to be intricately connected to the current one.
