And Your Bird Can Sing
2018・Japan・107 minutes
Zachiko, who works at a bookstore in a small port town, is drawn to a disheveled part-time worker. There are no sparks between them, just a mutual understanding. They quickly escalate to the bedroom, but there are no sweet words or post-coital cigarettes, only Zachiko's unemployed roommate, Shizuo, inadvertently joining the long nights. The pheromones of the three youths mix in the nightclub's glasses and music, on the streets of the tram, dancing and laughing under the summer night blues. The triangular relationship between two men and a woman also, in the loose, fragmented dawn, with swaying steps, seeks an exit in an extremely casual manner.
