1987・Taiwan・98 minutes

As World War II draws to a close, Japan's war situation becomes increasingly dire. Taiwan, still a colony, suffers not only from American bombings but also exploitation by its colonizer. Men are conscripted to fight in Southeast Asia, while civilian iron goods and livestock are confiscated. Two tenant farmer brothers, A-fa and Kuo-zui, avoid military service but cannot escape relentless exploitation. Even their livelihood, the farmland, is at risk of being sold off by the landlord. Then, an unexploded bomb lands in the middle of their field. With high hopes, the brothers push this "gift from the heavens" to the military police, hoping for a reward. Could this twist of fate bring them fortune amidst their hardships?
