Knox Goes Away
2024・United States・115 minutes
John “Aristotle” Knox (Michael Keaton) is a contract killer who only kills bad people, the ones who deserve it: imps, rapists, other murderers. He’s a hit man with a conscience, and one who’s good at keeping secrets. He earned his nickname for his voracious reading habit and extensive home library, and because before he was a hit man, he was a college professor. That was back when he was still married to Ruby (Marcia Gay Harden), and before his son Miles (James Marsden), disowned him. Knox doesn’t blame them, though. He knows he’s tough to love. Fortunately, he’s got Annie (Joanna Kulig), his escort-turned-girlfriend, to fill the void.
Knox and his partner Muncie (Ray McKinnon), are planning their next hit when Knox learns that his recent bouts of forgetfulness are caused by a rare disorder, Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). It’s similar to Alzheimer’s, but with a much faster rate of progression. Within just a few weeks, Knox will have no memory at all.
