❝I want to tell you the truth I witnessed with my own eyes❞
In September 1923, the Great Kanto Earthquake devastated Tokyo. False rumors born from the natural disaster spread like wildfire, and hostile sentiments towards Koreans surged among the local populace. One day, a group of medicine peddlers, traveling with their families, set out from Kagawa, Japan, for business. While passing through a Kanto village, they encountered a lone Korean girl selling candy on the street. The leader of the caravan, out of kindness, offered help, but unexpectedly, due to his accent, the villagers mistook them for Koreans. Hundreds of villagers immediately launched a witch hunt, brutally assaulting and murdering the caravan members. Witnessing this was a Japanese couple who had just returned from Keijo (Seoul), Korea. Despite being respected by the villagers in their daily lives, they were helpless at that moment, ultimately leading to a human tragedy born of racial conflict.
