The Man behind the Book
2011・Taiwan・105 minutes
Every night, the novelist fights with himself, digging the soil in his chest like digging a trench in the cell... "The Man behind the Book" connects Wang Wen-hsing's literary career with the traces of the young novelist's search. The densely packed bookshelves in the library, the scattered flowers, trees and cross roads on campus, as well as the keen feeling and personal opinion of art, are like the date stones that carve out the spirit, exquisitely translating emotions into symbols and then into words. Wang Wenxing shows a literary figure who adheres to his faith in writing, takes writing seriously, and trades slowness for profundity.
