Liu Yichang, who was born in Shanghai in 1918, is a witness to the history of the modern Chinese literary world. He was already in his forties when he finished The Drunkard, so he could be considered a late bloomer. The turning point in his literature and life unexpectedly came from a love experience in Singapore. This film leads the audience into Liu Yichang's creative life and gets close to his sense of the city as both a common man and a celebrity.
