Stargazing

2017・Taiwan・5 minutes

After arriving in New Zealand, I developed a habit of photographing the night sky every evening, regardless of the weather. These phone photos of the stars serve as a kind of diary. I also used a 16mm camera to shoot the stars manually, frame by frame, with exposure times determined purely by feel. The uneven exposures reflect the twinkling starlight and the shifting thoughts of the moment. This film is a record of this daily stargazing ritual and the associated reflections, forming a meditative process.
