Remigrate explores how the self navigates identity and belonging after migration. Using 3D scanning, the work captures images of Burmese-Chinese residents along Huaxin Street in New Taipei City, Taiwan—my mother among them. By layering scans of different places and times into a reconstructed virtual space, I reflect on her memories of Myanmar, and the cultural microcosm of those who have "remigrated" into Taiwanese society.

This work parallels my own experience, echoing lives shaped by distance, displacement, and return. Through this process, I realized how digital technology quietly colonizes memory and place. The once-familiar now feels foreign, and the sense of “home” survives only in inner longing. The distant light in this work symbolizes the unreachable ideal we project our belonging onto—perhaps not a location, but a feeling carried within.
