Green Island, located off the eastern coast of Taiwan, became known during the Cold War for holding a large number of political prisoners from Taiwan. In 2023, during my artist residency on Green Island, I combined my personal diary entries about emotional entanglements with the current backdrop of a new Cold War in East Asia to create a fictional love story involving Chinese intelligence officers in Taiwan, transforming it into this video work. In this piece, I use contemporary dance as a narrative for emotions, integrating diary readings and sound design to convey my thoughts and feelings about love, political prisoners, and the history of human rights.
