She is an adopted daughter, a female worker, and a female political prisoner. During Taiwan's White Terror in the 1950s, many people were imprisoned or shot because they were considered "spies" and "communist bandits" by the rulers. Xu Jinyu is one of the many victims. She was arrested in connection with the "Taiwan Post and Telecommunications General Branch" case. She joined the labor movement just because she participated in a reading club, but she ended up in jail. After serving 15 years in prison, she was hampered in her employment and work. However, she still persisted in her philosophy and studied hard despite the difficulties. From Xu Jinyu, people can see the perseverance and rich vitality of Taiwanese women.
