Campaign
2007・Japan・120 minutes
In the fall of 2005, Kazuhiko Yamauchi's life suddenly turned upside down. It turned out that the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) led by Japan's Prime Minister Koizumi suddenly decided to nominate him as a candidate for the Kawasaki City Council by-election. Although endorsed by the Prime Minister and the political party, the political rookie has neither charisma nor local prestige and voter base. How can Yamauchi win over public opinion in the election within a limited time? The film satirizes the Japanese political scene in a humorous way, throwing confused and funny candidates into a political party with strict classes like the mafia, allowing the audience to gain an in-depth understanding of party manipulation in elections, and at the same time revealing the true nature of Japan's "democracy."
