When Ann Hui was studying literature at university, she majored in poetry and felt that it could relieve worries and difficulties. Therefore, she fulfilled her long-cherished wish to film the poetry and literary landscape of my city. The film is mainly divided into three parts. The first part is a record of director Ann Hui personally visiting many Hong Kong poet friends, such as Huai Yuan, Yin Jiang, Deng Alan, Ma Ruo, etc. to discuss poetry; and using data images and photos to commemorate the deceased Xi Xi and Ye Si. The focus of the entire film is on the second part, the poet Huang Canran, who has moved to Shenzhen and has a free and easy-going personality, and the third part, the poet Liao Weitang, who is busy lecturing and taking care of his family in Taiwan and is actively involved in the world. Hong Kong poetry or Hong Kong poets are like marginal grass, showing tenacious vitality while struggling under the pressure of life.
