A Morning in Taipei ╳ The Man Who Has a Camera

1933・Taiwan・50 minutes

【A Morning in Taipei】 A debut of the director when he came back from the study in Italy. In the darkness, the neon lights are gradually swallowed by the morning light. Dawn in the city is being spit out. The sunshine uncurtains the sight of the park, church, market, textile factories and telecommunication office in Taipei in the 1960s. We follow the newspaper that a paperboy on a bicycle throws out to join the morning time of a white-collar family. 【The Man Who Has a Camera】 In 1933, Liu Na-ou recorded with his camera the family life and parades in Taiwan, a trip to Guangzhou and his impression of Tokyo. Divided into five parts, including “People”, “Parade”, “Sightseeing”, “Guangzhou” and “Tokyo”, the experimental documentary is like an allegro city symphony to reflect truthfully the prosperity of that period of time.
