If after death, you could only "possess" objects, unable to communicate with the living, and with a limited time of existence, who would be the person you would most want to see, and what would be the object you'd most cling to? By becoming objects, they once again record the heartfelt moments and regrets from their lives, hoping to become the rosin powder on their son's hand when he pitches in a baseball tournament, or the triceratops-patterned coffee cup their husband often holds in his palm. In their final moments, they protect their beloved ones as objects.
