The Vietnam War

2015・United Kingdom・43 minutes

This series takes you back to one of the most controversial wars of the 20th century, the Vietnam War. Starting from Vietnam's dynastic history, it traces colonial rule and the post-WWII geopolitical shifts, revealing the rise of Ho Chi Minh, and the process of American intervention driven by Cold War fears. In 1965, the conflict escalated dramatically. This war was broadcast on television day and night for the first time, igniting a massive anti-war movement. Ultimately, U.S. forces were compelled to withdraw from Saigon, bringing the war to an end, but leaving a profound impact. Vietnam's ancient history is fraught with bloodshed and violence. Long periods of conflict and oppression have forged in its people a resilient survival instinct when facing war, setting the stage for new conflicts.
