Xia’s perfect summer ends when the boy she has a crush on disappears. In the fall of 2019, Xia takes a gap year from college and moves to Boston to work as a remote screenwriter. Living with her best friend Jie, a struggling actor, she and Jie throw themselves into a faraway filmmaking dream. They spend their time chain-smoking, daydreaming, and being self-indulgent, as if they had all the time in the world to kill. While searching for her vanished crush, Xia tries hard to hold onto the memory of that summer. But when Jie moves out and the first winter snow falls, she finally realizes that summer is over.
