In 1996, Lin Hwai-min was inspired by the Buddhist verse "flowers in a mirror and moon on the water are both illusive" and compiled "Moon Water". After its premiere, it was immediately hailed as "a milestone in contemporary dance". In 2000, he was invited to perform at the Sydney Olympic Arts Festival. In the same year, he was awarded the "Best Choreographer Award" at the International Dance Biennale. "Moon Water" uses the body, flowing water, and mirror to create a beautiful image of virtuality and reality reflecting each other, and color and illusion blending into each other. The dancer squats, twists and turns, guides the air and body, and uses oriental body movements to create a lingering dialogue with Bach's "Unaccompanied Cello Suite" played by Micha Maisky. The East and the West blend together in "Moon Water".
