Bao Yuankai, a well-known contemporary Chinese composer who loves Taiwanese customs and culture, incorporated what he saw and heard in Taiwan for many years into the music. He picked elements with Taiwanese characteristics such as puppetry, northern and southern pipes, and aboriginal music. It took him ten years to complete the "Taiwan Music and Pictures" symphony, which has become the most representative musical symbol of Taiwan in the contemporary era.
