Sounds of Taiwan

2020・96 minutes

Bao Yuankai, a well-known contemporary Chinese composer who loves Taiwanese customs and culture, incorporated what he saw and heard in Taiwan for many years into the music. He picked elements with Taiwanese characteristics such as puppetry, northern and southern pipes, and aboriginal music. It took him ten years to complete the "Taiwan Music and Pictures" symphony, which has become the most representative musical symbol of Taiwan in the contemporary era. This film follows Bao Yuankai back to the creative scene, looking back on how this most beautiful musical relationship in the past 400 years turned into a panoramic view of Taiwan. Let’s follow the sound of the land and discover the beauty of Taiwan that we have never heard before.
