Fluffy Rhapsody
2000・Taiwan・57 minutes
Wan, who graduated from medical school and is unemployed, has no goals except love. Although he has a flight attendant girlfriend, he met and fell in love with a self-proclaimed lesbian high school girl and advertising actor Miaomiao before his thirtieth birthday. At the same time, the actor who co-starred with Miaomiao in a mineral water commercial fell in love with her at the first kiss because of the commercial, but he only had a collection of photo albums and was in unrequited love. Really popular advertisements also appear constantly in the movie, deconstructing and humorously linking up the movie's view of love.
"Fluffy Rhapsody" is Wu Mi-sen's first feature film. He uses a distinctive and jumping narrative structure, as well as highly stylized images and lines to depict the fashionable and nihilistic urban life of Taipei at the end of the last century. "Fluffy Rhapsody" is a light metaphor for the depreciation of youth, which is refreshing among Taiwanese movies at the time that were dominated by realism. This film was also rarely released in Japan and was titled "Love Fish".
