Scene, Time, and Revisit

"Stones, rock walls, sunlight, mist, trees—so many trees—ridges, peaks, sunrises, sunsets, wind, fierce wind, rain, torrential rain, memories, history, walking..." In The Landscape Hunters, produced by Your Bros Filmmaking Group, a Bunun-language voiceover slowly unfolds a unique form of storytelling. The lens follows photographer Fang Ching-Mien, weaving between aged glass negatives and the actual landscapes they depict, attempting to revisit images taken on Yushan 70 years ago. Through the exhibition The Wind-Catchers, audiences are invited to re-watch, retrace, and rediscover.
In this special program, the Chiayi Art Museum curates a selection of films centered on four conceptual threads—landscape/mountain, time, photosensitive materials, and return/rewind. Through these threads, viewers are invited to explore layered narratives in image-making, and to experience how sound and oral storytelling intervene and guide. During this time of pandemic and the museum’s temporary closure, may these images transcend time and space, offering new gazes and imagined possibilities.
