Tien-Wen Chu, the eldest of the Chu sisters, is not only one of Taiwan’s most important contemporary novelists, but also the longtime screenwriter for acclaimed director Hsiao-hsien Hou.
She has penned scripts for 15 of Hou’s films, and has won the Golden Horse Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Screenplay three times.
