PHAH Chiayi

“PHAH Chiayi” is derived from the Taiwanese word phah, meaning “to shoot” or “to take a photo” and symbolizing the beginning of an action. It represents capturing the daily life, views, people, and stories of Chiayi through the lens of a camera. More than just the act of filming, PHAH is an invitation to engage in a dialogue with Chiayi city.
In 2025, a total of 11 short films were selected as finalists for PHAH Chiayi. These works span a wide range of topics—from local cultural landscapes, artisan spirit, community narratives to distinctive local events. Through their lenses, the filmmakers actively discover, interpret, create and documenting the urban spirit and cultural depth of Chiayi City. These films are not only more than visual records but also represent a cultural movement, seeking to redefine and reimagine the identity of Chiayi city through cinematic storytelling.
