In the 1930s, the first literary poet group to introduce Surrealism appeared in Taiwan: the Windmill Poetry Society. It reflects the cultural path passed from the West (especially France) to Japan and to Taiwan through colonial influence in the 20th century. What impact has the avant-garde wave of modernism brought to young Taiwanese poets? Is the reception of foreign cultures pure imagination, or is it a brand new planting mixed from the soil where the roots are rooted? This film traces the discussion and creation of poetry by members of the Poetry Society, presenting the appearance of Taiwan's literary scene during the Japanese colonial period, as well as the influence of Western culture on pre-war East Asian literature and art.
