In the densely forested Nishiyoshino Village in Nara Prefecture, Takazo's family of five lives here. Due to the decline of forestry, the village is looking forward to the upcoming railway project, and he, who loves his hometown, is committed to this. Fifteen years have passed, but the project has never been completed. Takasan's ability to work has gradually declined, and the financial burden has shifted to his nephew. As for the family that gets along day and night, their love quietly surges under the peaceful life. One day, Kozo left with his 8mm camera and never came back... Naomi Kawase's first feature film, which won the Cannes Golden Camera Award in one fell swoop. The freehand and tranquil images separated the vicissitudes of the family with an almost documentary-like lyrical narrative. Compose a rich and profound life poem.
