Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles
2018・Germany・Netherlands・Spain・80 minutes
"Death lurks in every corner, you have to make it show up and draw it out." It is adapted from the true story of Buñuel, the father of surrealist cinema. In 1932, Buñuel set out to the remote countryside of Spain to shoot "The Land of No Grain" and witness the scene of uncivilized land. Inbreeding, waiting to die on the roadside, not knowing what bread is. The weird dream-like reality stimulated Buñuel, reflecting his unethical creative practices: tearing off the head of a chicken alive, shooting a goat to force it off a cliff, and letting a donkey be bitten by a swarm of bees... In order to bring death to the camera, Buñuel I staked my soul on it, searched for my identity in the subconscious, intertwined childhood memories and magical dreams, and transformed into his unprecedented world-awakening masterpiece!
