Vive L'Amour

1994・台灣・118 minutes

Meimei, a sales girl who sells ancient houses, Xiao Kang, who sells casket towers, and Ah Rong, a small street stall owner, are three strangers who had nothing to do with each other, but they have the key to the same apartment. In an apartment for sale, three people are playing emotional hide-and-seek. They seem to be together, but they don't seem to be together. With very little dialogue and almost no soundtrack, this film concisely and powerfully depicts the loneliness and emptiness of Taipei urbanites. The film, which won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, also launched a unique "Tsai Ming-liang style" film in the Chinese film industry.
