One Man and His Shoes
2020・United Kingdom・83 minutes
People lined up all night and demolished stores just to buy a pair of sneakers priced at $180 - this is the magic of Air Jordan.
The Air Jordan, the legendary sneaker series created by Nike for the "God of Basketball" Michael Jordan, cleverly used celebrity culture and hunger marketing to generate billions of dollars in profits. But since 1989, many young people have been brutally murdered because of the Jordan shoes they wore. In addition to telling the birth of legendary sneakers, this film also analyzes how popular culture shapes the codes recognized by young peers, and leads the audience to reflect on the social issues caused by material pursuits.
