Time Splits in the River

2016・Taiwan・90 minutes

"Time Splits in the River" is a joint film project. While participating in the Sunflower Movement, the four artists discovered that although their family members affirmed the development of modern democratic politics, they still had many doubts about today's social movements, so they decided to "make a movie" to trace this past with their families. They are based on the novels and life of prison literature writer Shi Mingzheng. In the film, family members play dissidents during the martial law period, but their own life experiences and memories were incorporated into the filming... "Time Splits in the River" uses re-enactments and records to make Participants and the audience jointly reflect on the gaps in collective and personal memory, and engage in family and intergenerational dialogue.
