Shuttle Life
2017・Malaysia・91 minutes
On the day of her sixth birthday, Ah Qiang's sister, Hui Shan, experiences an accident that changes the fate of their family. To ensure his sister can return home, Ah Qiang seeks her birth certificate from their mother, who has developed a mental illness following her husband's death. However, since Hui Shan was an abandoned orphan, the family has no documents to prove her identity. Directed by Malaysia's emerging filmmaker Chen Shengji, the film employs eye-level shots that closely capture the characters, revealing the roots of poverty and the moral conflicts of humanity.
