September 26, 2014, Hong Kong. Tens of thousands of people were standing, sitting, lying and sleeping in the streets, hoping to win democratic universal suffrage. Three days later, police cracked down with tear gas, which eventually turned into an 81-day occupation. "Memos for Troubled Times" is structured as twenty "memos" of varying lengths, opening with festive fireworks and ending with a sincere and firm letter. In this movement that once dominated the global news, what kind of emotional ups and downs did each individual involved in it experience? How to change from "I" to "we"?
