Ponyo On The Cliff By The Sea

Five-year-old Sosuke lives with his mother, Lisa, in a small seaside village atop a cliff. With his father, a ship captain, often away at sea, Sosuke and his mother rely on each other for companionship. One day, while playing on the rocky beach below the cliff, Sosuke discovers a tiny mermaid, Ponyo, trapped inside a glass bottle. After rescuing Ponyo, the two quickly become close friends. However, Ponyo's sorcerer father demands she return to the sea. Unwilling to comply, Ponyo throws a tantrum, resolute in her decision to become a human girl and return to Sosuke's side.
