Set Sail

At Grandpa's funeral, the granddaughter is overwhelmed by her memories of the old days with Grandpa. From the granddaughter's viewpoint, a glimpse is taken into the past when a young man goes to Taipei struggling for a living under the changes in the early era in Taiwan as well as the sacrifice he made for the family as the eldest son and his true wishes for life.

This film aims to depict the internal struggles of young people in Taiwan during the 60s and 70s between their aspirations and reality, highlighting the theme of 'love, sacrifice, and freedom'. Using Hakka dialect and local characteristics of Taoyuan, combined with a hand-drawn animation style, we hope to offer viewers a heartwarming experience reminiscent of reading a picture book while introducing them to Hakka culture.
