In the post-AIDS era of 2060, the super-government declares the arrival of an AIDS-free world. However, a mutated AIDS virus has caused genetic mutations in humans, resulting in the genderless "Generation Zero." Generation Zero possesses a white bodily fluid coded as DELTA, which is not only a superdrug that can replace heroin but also a cutting-edge sex product, capable of inducing intense pleasure and addiction through mere skin contact. The government deploys antibody-carrying clones to hunt them down, leaving Generation Zero caught between underground drug dealers, malfunctioning super-agents, shadowy corporations, and a corrupt government. This latest science fiction thriller by Shu Lea Cheang confronts the history of AIDS panic, using a cyberpunk science fiction queer allegory to explore viruses, sex, hacking, drug use, and the conspiracies of a surveillance state in the digital age.
