Burning in Dreams
2026・Hong Kong・12 minutes
The memory of dreams is like a paper filled with words in the mind, with only burnt fragments remaining after waking up. If these memory fragments are spliced together, would it be a documentary of nightmares, or a collage art of flowing images? This short film is based on director Benson Koo's personal series of nightmare paintings, extending into flowing images, aiming to challenge our taboos on fear and death, allowing the audience to briefly travel through nightmares like travelers, facing common fears. The work is 11 minutes long, transforming the memory of nightmares into a visual poem. Benson Koo serves as director, photographer, editor, and hand-drawn animator, while his friend, musician Olivier Cong, composes the soundtrack for him.
