The Sheltering Sky

1990・Italy・United Kingdom・138 minutes

A couple who have been together for ten years faces a bottleneck in their marriage. In order to regain their passion for love, they decide to go on a trip to the Sahara Desert to repair their relationship. Living in the mysterious desert, the marriage crisis seems to be temporarily resolved, but while they are having fun, they also realize that no one can replace each other's status. Can they see the last piece of their original intention in a desperate situation? This film is adapted from a classic novel of existentialism and nihilism. It uses the repeated dialectics of identity and love throughout the film to deeply describe the inner emptiness and hesitation of modern people.
