Kaohsiung Shorts(2023)

The “Kaohsiung Shorts” Film Program is an annual initiative that selects emerging creators through an open call, encouraging diverse themes and creative expressions in short film production. To date, the program has supported over 100 works. The eight new short films from the 2023 cycle have gone through a one-year journey from initial concept to final creation. These films explore themes ranging from familial bonds and struggles, the desires and regrets of love, the resistance and confusion of growing up, to the fading and brilliance of life. Each piece offers a distinct perspective and cinematic language, carving out a fresh new chapter in the landscape of short film artistry.

From a Rising Enclave, Vision Unfolds

飛地書店

Along fragmented paths, we come to glimpse landscapes elsewhere. When these everyday moments brush against lived experience, we are suddenly carried back in dreams—to a past once lived in our homeland. By weaving together the experience of being away from home with what has already passed, a vision emerges that belongs to us alone, singular and unrepeatable. This film selection, jointly curated by enclave partners from different countries, reflects the concerns they observe through their own eyes. Within this rising enclave, we see, encounter, and exchange… and continue moving forward.

A Few Minutes Back to Hong Kong

電癮

When dreams return in fragments, when memories slip away, when the past comes rushing in, when the storm circles back—take a few minutes, just drift for a few minutes. The everyday can transcend time and space; abstract animation and imagery capture colors we cannot speak aloud, like elephants hidden in a castle, a head holding onto its last strand of hair, someone lost in a midsummer dream, or a fierce cyclone swirling outside. We all need—and deserve—these few minutes.

The 7th Taiwan Film Festival of Boston|Virtual Film Festival

Taiwan Film Festival of Boston 波士頓臺灣影展

For the first time ever, the Taiwan Film Festival of Boston (TFFB) is hosting a virtual edition in collaboration with Giloo, offering audiences across North America a new way to experience the festival. This year, the TFFB team has curated a selection of ten films—a poignant mix of short films and one animated feature—that explore the intimate, often fragile dynamics within families. Seen through the eyes of children, women, and the elderly, these stories delve into emotional landscapes shaped by absence, silence, duty, and love. Together, these works offer a layered and unflinching portrait of family—not as a fixed ideal, but as a space of negotiation, resilience, and transformation. Many of the featured filmmakers are women, whose voices bring depth and urgency to questions of identity, care, and emotional survival. This program invites us to reflect on what we inherit, what we choose, and how we carry those choices forward.

The Mindscape of Hong Kong's Youth

港產電影保育計劃

Before settling into the stability of adulthood, we are all perplexed students navigating the currents of life. This selection focuses on a group of Hong Kong teenagers who have yet to enter the working world. The life circumstances, social shifts, and even familial relationships they encounter are unprecedented experiences. The journey from attempting to understand, learn, and overcome these challenges, to ultimately accepting their self-determined fate, broadly reflects the collective atmosphere and mindset of Hong Kong as a whole

TIDF Selections

Giloo presents a curated selection of finalists and award-winning works from the Taiwan International Documentary Festival (TIDF), capturing the trajectories of individual lives shaped by era shifts, social structures, and cultural traditions. The narrative scope expands from the frontlines of war and resistance to everyday anxieties, the complexities of tradition, and philosophical reflections on the soul. The lens shifts from macro-level upheavals to an intimate gaze. We witness individuals seeking exits from systemic oppression, debating existence through traditional rituals, and attempting to summon lost souls through song and imagination amidst the embers of trauma. This is a profound dialogue that delves into the subtle nuances of life, inviting you to experience the true weight of memory and action.

2025 PowerGO – Urban Cultural Playground|Online Film Festival

The 2025 Urban Warehouse Culture Games takes “Cultural Estuary” as its theme. On October 25–26, we will arrive at Dadaocheng Wharf and the Tamsui River! Thirty years ago, the Tamsui River drew attention to pollution and urban development through an environmental art exhibition. Today, its riverbanks have been completely renewed. This year, 19 groups of artists are invited to collaborate, creating 8 sets of art-based game checkpoints and 2 workshops, extending further to river cruises, an outdoor cinema, and a low-carbon experimental exhibition. Join us as we sail toward the cultural estuary and embark on a cultural shuttle run for the city!
