Labyrinth of Cinema
2019・Japan・180 minutes
The only seaside cinema in Onomichi, Hiroshima, is about to close down. On its final night, it holds an all-night screening of numerous Japanese war films. Amidst a thunderstorm, three young viewers are unexpectedly pulled into the screen, transported into the world of the films. They journey through eras, from the Meiji Restoration to World War II battlefields, witnessing the brutal realities of life and death, as well as the evolution of filmmaking from silent black-and-white to sound and color. As the story reaches the eve of the atomic bomb's detonation, will they have a chance to change their fate?
