Driven by a passion for dance, Melati arrives in Taiwan to pursue her PhD in Dance Studies at Taipei National University of the Arts. One day at the train station, she’s captivated by migrant workers performing lively routines, each movement a release and a refuge from their difficult lives. Inspired by their resilience, Melati makes these dancers the heart of her thesis. As she bonds with them through workshops and mentorship, she helps them transform dance into a voice of empowerment, strength, and joy—creating a sisterhood that celebrates solidarity and self-expression.
