Marc, an advertising planner experiencing burnout, escapes from Montreal to Provence in the south of France, seeking a peaceful, rural life as a shepherd. After meeting Alice, a civil servant also searching for meaning in life, the two, along with their border collie, Ola, move their flock of sheep, facing the hardships and challenges of nature, and finding answers to life in the hot summer mountains.
