Small Talk
2017・Taiwan・88 minutes
Slowly recounts his childhood with the mage's mother as she leads the dead, his domestically violent father, and his doubts about the absence of maternal love. As a documentary director, the daughter picked up a camera to record a seemingly ordinary "conversation" with her mother. In the deafening silence at the dinner table, there is a secret that is difficult for the mother to face and express; behind the tightly closed lips, there is a shame that suffocates her and cannot be shaken off. The camera is like a magical tool in the hand, transcending the past that is unwilling to be faced, and also giving the mother-daughter relationship an opportunity to be reborn.
