A Bag of Marbles
2018・France・113 minutes
The story is set in France during the German occupation. In 1941, ten-year-old Joseph and his brother Maurice grew up in a happy barber shop family. One day, the school stipulated that they must wear yellow badges representing their Jewish origins. The alert father decided to divide the family of six into three groups and flee to Nice. Joseph and his brother fought for their lives, fighting Nazi demons along the way. French director Chris Tougard uses his specialty spy film techniques to depict the memories of the separation of Jews during World War II, with sentimentality embedded in the suspense elements.
