Australian Dream

2016・Taiwan・32 minutes

Since Taiwan and Australia signed the "Working Holiday" agreement in 2004, the number of Taiwanese youths going to Australia every year has almost doubled. But does this appearance of "vacation" and "dream building" conceal the labor essence of "working"? This film interviews 7 backpackers in an attempt to portray the common memories of Taiwanese backpackers: Due to language limitations, most Taiwanese youths in Australia can only engage in physical labor, and there are not many opportunities to enter the service industry. This is when they are very close to the bottom of society. How do they understand their labor experience in a foreign land?
