Bizen, an old-fashioned ramen shop located on a busy street in Tokyo, has provided countless Tokyo gourmets with spiritual satisfaction and comfort for forty years. Some people find the taste of childhood here, some meet their lifelong partners here, and some get unparalleled warmth, companionship, and encouragement in this small space. The brightly lit shop, under the warm hospitality of the Ueda owners, seems to have become an important home for lonely people in the city. Coming to Tokyo from Okayama and learning on his own through reading, Ueda Masaki has become the owner of a ramen shop that can stand on its own. Mr. Ueda also takes time off to go into the fields all over Japan with old customers to pick fresh seasonal ingredients. Bamboo shoot rice cooked with freshly picked bamboo shoots, summer flounder sashimi, autumn yam paste rice, and winter signature ramen with rice cakes, allowing customers to experience the beauty of the four seasons through their taste buds.
