Meeting Gorbachev
2019・Germany・United States・United Kingdom・91 minutes
Mikhail Gorbachev, the former supreme leader of the Soviet Union, was nearly ninety years old. He was born in a peasant family and experienced war and famine. He was the youngest leader in the history of the Soviet Union. Holding the ideal of reforming communism and adhering to the political strategy of "opening up" and "reconstruction", it promoted the end of the Cold War, the reunification of the two Germanys, the nuclear weapons reduction agreement, and the disintegration of the Soviet Union. And it left extreme comments in the West and the motherland... Werner Herzog interviewed Gorbachev three times in six months. Through intimate and sincere conversations, he revealed the moment of great change in history and the hidden worries about the future of the international situation.
