"Whatever the sea wants, we give it to it." Residents of Benin, West Africa, use oral history to unveil the mystery of Mamiwata, the water god in ancient mythology. Legend has it that He is the god who gives birth to everything. If you follow Him into the sea, you will never come back to the shore. He is also the god of one of the oldest religions in the world: Voodoo (also known as "Voodoo"). People hold rituals to pray to him. He prayed for peace. There are many different opinions about the myth of water. Is it as warm as a mother protecting her child, or is it a frightening cautionary fable?
